A united effort to promote early detection, improve access to breast healthcare and save lives in the Kumawu Traditional Area. BODOMASE, ASHANTI REGION, GHANA — Barima Foundation, in collaboration with Breast Care International (BCI) and Peace and Love Hospital, has successfully organised a breast cancer awareness, education and screening programme for residents of Bodomase in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region. The initiative forms part of the partners’ collective commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, increasing public awareness of breast cancer and encouraging early detection as a vital step towards reducing the impact of the disease. Promoting Early Detection and Saving Lives Breast cancer remains a significant public health concern, making awareness, early detection and timely medical attention essential in improving health outcomes. During the programme, participants received breast cancer education and had the opportunity to access screening services. The initiative also provided an important platform for encouraging community members to take their breast health seriously, seek medical advice when necessary and share accurate health information with their families and communities. The screening of girls and women represents a meaningful step towards improving awareness and encouraging preventive health-seeking behaviour among residents of Bodomase and surrounding communities. The organisers emphasised the importance of seeking professional medical evaluation for unusual breast changes and following appropriate medical guidance. Community members were also encouraged to participate in future awareness and screening initiatives.
